Troubleshooting Guide

We’re not being big-headed – honest, but so far we haven’t had too many problems reported. As we hear of more reports, we will continue to build out this section. Hopefully it will remain a small section of the site!

Connection time out when looking up a .tel name.

Some users have experienced occasional issues with time outs when doing a .TEL lookup. This may be caused by intermittent carrier support of the UDP and TCP/IP protocols used by Hornet or a problem with the networking stack on the device itself.

Most look ups complete almost instantly or within a few seconds. If you experience longer lookup times or time outs:

  1. Try clicking the Stop button while the lookup is in progress and then immediately submitting the request again
  2. If you continue to experience timeouts, try a physical battery pull or simulated battery pull using Quick Pull or similar utility. This has the effect of resetting the networking stack on the device.
  3. If you continue to experience problems, please contact us at support@hornet.tel stating your device type, operating system, your location, carrier, email address and a short description of the experience. We will contact you to try and help diagnose the problem.
